Civil Engineering Study Opportunities in South Africa

About the Bursary
Power Construction is inviting students to apply for its 2026 bursary programme. The bursary is intended for students from selected communities in the Western Cape who are pursuing studies within the civil engineering and construction field.
The programme aims to support students academically while helping develop future professionals in the construction industry.
Fields of Study
Bursaries will be awarded for studies towards the following qualifications:
- BSc in Civil Engineering
- BEng in Civil Engineering
- National Diploma in Civil Engineering
- National Diploma in Construction
Eligible Areas
Applicants must reside in one of the following areas within the Western Cape:
- Gouda
- Saron
- Tulbagh
- Porterville
Selection Process
Shortlisted applicants may be contacted within 30 days after the closing date.
If you do not receive feedback within this period, please consider your application unsuccessful.
Work-Back Requirement
Successful bursary recipients will be required to sign an agreement with Power Construction.
After completing their studies, students may be required to work for the company for an agreed period.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements before applying:
- Must reside in Gouda, Saron, Tulbagh or Porterville
- Must be studying towards a Civil Engineering or Construction qualification
- Must study at a recognised South African tertiary institution
- Must have strong problem-solving skills
- Must have good computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Excel
- Must show leadership potential
- Must be able to work independently and take initiative
- Must be willing to travel or work in remote areas when required
- Must be interested in building a career in civil construction
The following will be advantageous but are not compulsory:
- Valid Code 08 driver’s licence
- Ability to adapt in challenging environments
- Ability to speak two or more South African official languages

- Certified academic record
- Updated CV
- Proof of residence
- Driver’s licence copy (if applicable)
