Professional Chef Training Opportunity in South Africa
About the Bursary
Guvon Academy, in partnership with HOT 102.7 FM and Hot Cares, is inviting students to apply for its 2026 bursary programme.
The bursary was donated during the HOT 1027 Teddython 2025 and aims to provide a deserving South African student with the opportunity to pursue a professional chef qualification.
Qualification Covered
The bursary will fund studies towards the following qualification:
- Occupational Certificate: Chef (SAQA ID 101697)
The programme duration is 3 years and will begin in July 2026 in Johannesburg.
Bursary Value
The bursary is valued at approximately R350 000 and includes:
- Full tuition fees
- Textbooks
- Professional chef knife set
- Chef uniforms
- Access to internationally recognised Highfield Qualifications from the UK
Selection Process
Only 1 applicant will be selected to receive the bursary.
The successful candidate is expected to be announced on 2 July 2026.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements before applying:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must have completed Matric
- Must be passionate about culinary arts
- Must intend to pursue a career as a professional chef
- Must be willing to study towards the 3-year Occupational Certificate: Chef qualification at Guvon Academy in Johannesburg

- Motivational video explaining why they should be selected
- Short video showcasing their passion for culinary arts
